International Women’s Day Celebration – March 6, 2010

15th Annual International Womens Day Celebration: Inspire, Act, Change, sponsored by Minnesota Advocates, Saturday, March 6, 2010. This is another day long event with workshops, speakers, the Twin Cities Women’s Choir and more.  MN NOW Program Chair Kathleen Murphy will be presenting a workshop on the Minnesota Constitutional Amendment for Equality.  The event is free and open to the public and will include keynote speaker Leymah Gbowee, workshops, film, performances, visual arts, arts and crafts vendors, and information tables from over 65 co-sponsoring organizations. The event will be held at Coffman Union on the University of Minnesota campus.  More information here.

We need volunteers to staff a MN Valley NOW Table from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pro-Choice Lobby Day – March 4, 2010

Pro-Choice Lobby Day, sponsored by MN NOW and NARAL – this is a great day with speakers, workshops, and live lobbying of your legislators.  It begins at 8:45 a.m. at the State Capitol.  More information and registration can be found at www.prochoicelobbyday.org.  We have a special request from our Minnesota NOW VP Barbra Peterson for some older women to attend this event.  Apparently, the pre-Roe generation is not usually well represented.  There is a workshop specifically for an intergenerational discussion of choice.  The group will be lobbying for a comprehensive sex education bill.

February Chapter Meeting – February 25, 2010
