- 01/03 Lucretia Mott (1793-1880) was born on this day. In July 1848, she and Elizabeth Cady Stanton called the Seneca Falls (NY) Convention and launched the women’s suffrage movement in the United States.
- 01/09 Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947) was born on this day. She successfully lead the final drive to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment.

- 01/31 The Minnesota Women’s Consortium will host its annual birthday party, Celebration 27, 6PM to 9PM at the Science Museum of Minnesota, downtown St. Paul. The event includes cash bar, supper, networking, music, and honoring 10 “women in the workplace” – businesswomen, union activists, cultural caregivers, and pathfinders. Cathy Wurzer of Twin Cities Public Television and Minnesota Public Radio will emcee, with Celebration Chair Dawn Hughes of Employment Action.
