- 05/13 Mother’s Day – In 1905, Anna Jarvis began a campaign to memorialize the life work of her mother, Ann Marie Jarvis. In 1914, Anna’s hard work paid off when President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill recognizing Mother’s Day as a national holiday.

- 05/18 Knit-In at the Capitol Rotunda. In light of the recent Supreme Court decision outlawing a specific abortion procedure, the National Council of Jewish Women, along with our co-sponsors, Midwest Health Center for Women, Minnesota Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, Minnesota National Organization for Women, NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota Foundation, and Pro-Choice Resources invite you to a Knit-in, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Before Roe vs. Wade legalized abortions, women desperate to terminate unintended pregnancies used knitting needles and wire coat hangers. Many women died or suffered from the unavailability of safe and legal medical procedures. Will we revert back to those times? The time to speak up is now! For more information, click here.

- 05/24 MN Valley NOW Chapter Meeting, Prior Lake Public Library, 7:00 p.m. General Membership Meeting, 7:30 p.m. Speaker: Taylor Kristoffe-Jones. Ms. Kristoffe-Jones ran for the Minnesota House of Representatives for District 35B during the recent 2006 elections. She was endorsed by the House DFL Caucus and ran in a historically Republican district. She will speak about her campaign experience, her background, and her plans to run again in 2008. - 05/26 Sisterhood of the Realm 1st Gathering, Mankato, River Hills Mall Community Room. First session at 9:00 a.m., repeat session at 1:00 p.m. Cost: $5.00. Two speakers, a native of England and an RN who will be discussing women’s health issues. For more information email Sisterhood of the Realm. The Sisterhood of the Round Table was formed by a group of people who believe women are ALL Sisters. Their goal is to let women of all ages know how wonderful and unique they are through inspiration, acknowledgment, and support as they take that incredible journey through womanhood. The Sisterhood wants to help women understand the many different aspects of the “Woman Experience”.
